How to open Microsoft Office documents without fear of Follina zero-day?
The Internet is now abuzz with the latest zero-day cybersecurity hole in Microsoft Office. Opening a booby-trapped Word document will result in malicious software code injected into your Windows PC. Worse still, simply previewing a RTF document in Windows Explorer is enough to get compromised.
Already, there are news that state-sponsored hackers from China are exploiting this vulnerability in the wild.
Currently, at the time of writing this article, Microsoft has yet to release a software update to fix this vulnerability. They have released this security advisory to provide information to corporate IT professionals on how to secure their organisations with temporary workarounds. For most average home and small business users who don’t have their own dedicated IT support, they remain at risk.
